International trade is defined as the act of buying or selling, or importing or exporting, products on a global scale. Many entrepreneurs are able to start their own importing/exporting business quite easily from the comfort of their own home. Simply most people just need a computer, a phone and a willingness to succeed at their business by working hard. Both importing and exporting can be easily done, but there are tips of the trade for both types of business.

An importing business is simple to start, as you the first step is merely deciding on a hot product to import from another country. For example, if a hot toy is a Plush Pet and Plush Pets are made in China, you will want to find the manufacturer or distributor in China that you can import from. Many companies outsource packaging, design and production of their products to other countries which will make it easy for you to find a company that is looking for someone to market and sell their products in the United States. The more popular the product is, the more money you will make for both you and your importing partner. This may lead to finding other international partners and more products that you can sell.

An exporting business is just as simple to start, but requires to figure out what countries are desiring and finding a way to get that product to them. For example, many foreign countries love blue jeans. This may be a great exporting business, as blue jeans are easy to obtain in the states and can be be bought in bulk and then shipped globally. Many foreign countries are willing to pay a good price to get jeans and by making contacts with clothing stores and distributors in other countries, you will be able to make a lucrative profit from this type of international trading.
